Creativity Isn’t Just for Art—It’s a Critical Tool to Parenting with Intention
Join me at the Queer Creativity Summit (March 31-April 2)
Most people think of creativity as painting, writing, or performing.
But here’s the thing—creativity is what helps us change something for the better.
It’s how we break out of old patterns. It’s how we build something new. And as queer parents, that’s not just helpful—it’s essential.
Because queer families? We’ve already had to create what didn’t exist.
When the world didn’t give us a roadmap for our relationships, we created new ways to love.
When our families didn’t support us, we built chosen families that did.
When systems didn’t recognize us, we found workarounds, we advocated, we made space.
And when we become parents? We do it again.
We create family cultures from scratch—not just inherit them.
We imagine what’s possible when rigid roles and outdated expectations don’t fit.
We problem-solve in ways other parents don’t even have to think about.
But once life gets busy? The routines take over. The messiness piles up.
And without even realizing it, we slip into autopilot—repeating patterns that don’t always align with our values.
We freeze when someone asks about our family instead of beaming with pride
We soften our boundaries with our own parents instead of standing firm in what we know is best.
We skip playdates with unfamiliar families—trying to spare our child from rejection—when what we really want is to show them they belong everywhere.
But those moments? They’re not failures or setbacks—they’re clues. Clues that point you straight to the places where your values and habits don’t match—and where change is possible.
That’s what I’ll be sharing in my session at the Queer Creativity Summit, a FREE online event happening March 31–April 2 (click here to add to calendar)
On April 2, my talk, The Art of Queer Parenting: Freeing Your Imagination to Create the Family Culture You Want, will show you how to spot those hidden patterns—and how to use creativity to shift them.
In my session, I’ll walk you through:
✅ Why the moments you regret most as a parent aren’t random—and the unconscious patterns pulling you off track before you even realize it.
✅ How to bring creativity to parenting struggles and turn them into opportunities—so every tough moment brings you closer to the family culture you want to create.
✅ The simple 4-step process that helps you shift from reacting on autopilot to making intentional choices that reflect your values.
✅ How to stay present for the messy, magical moments now—while knowing how you’re showing up is shaping your child’s lifelong sense of worth.
Parenting moves fast. But creativity slows us down in the best possible way—helping us breathe, reflect, and choose the path we actually want to take.
For queer parents, creativity isn’t just a skill—it’s a lifeline.
